A historical predominantly residential neighborhood located in Wichita, Kansas. College Hill was a platted as a series of developments during the speculation boom of real estate back in 1880. The names came from a Methodist college instead choose to build the college building that is now known as the Southwestern College. Few of the houses in the neighborhood were built prior to the turn of the century and most were built between 1900 and 1934.
College Hill Park
Managed by Wichita Department of Park and Recreation. The park has 22-acre land and is located on English and Circle Drive south of Douglas Avenue. The park amenities include a playground, swimming pool, tennis courts, shuffleboard courts, and basketball courts. Before being a city park it was served as Wichita Country Club in 1901-1912 until it was redeveloped from an overgrown golf course in becoming the current park configuration including its swimming pool. The Crown is a space for concerts, dances, receptions, weddings, theatrical productions, banquets, and banquets. They have a Broadway-style stage and are one of the largest in Wichita. The theatre operated as the first run movie venue.
